Pilates

I started taking Pilates classes in 2014 and very quickly realised the positive impact that Pilates could have on all aspects of life. By strengthening, lengthening and balancing muscles, simple day to day movements are eased, performance in sports enhanced, risk of injury is reduced, recovery from injury is aided and mental well being improved. I really do believe it to be a powerful tool for living and moving well.

I completed my comprehensive training in 2017 and continue to take workshops and further education courses in order to keep my knowledge up to date.

I teach both ‘mat based’ Pilates classes and private one to one classes on the Pilates reformer and other apparatus.

My mat classes are both in-person (in Woking) and online, on Zoom. I’m also available for private mat classes, either at my studio, or in the comfort of your own home.

My Reformer/Apparatus classes are held in my sunny, bright home studio in Woking, Surrey.

I ensure that all classes are friendly and welcoming, no matter what your fitness level.

Benefits of Pilates

Pilates is a wonderful method of total body conditioning and the perfect tool with which to tackle the physical and mental toll on our bodies of our screen-dominated modern lives.

The aim of Pilates is to balance and strengthen muscular structure, with a particular focus on the core muscles of the abdomen, lower back and pelvis. Balancing the strength in these core muscles means that the spine can be fully supported and the rest of the body can then move in a co-ordinated, efficient and connected manner. Joseph Pilates famously said “A man is as young as his spinal column.”

Pilates is suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness, as the complexity of the exercises can be increased as muscle strength and flexibility improve.

I absolutely love it and make it part of my daily routine, in order to keep my body moving well. I believe Joseph Pilates was spot on when he said “The whole country, the whole world, should be doing my exercises. They’d be happier.”!
